I have wanted to paint a room in our house dark charcoal or even black for the longest time. My husband- not so much. I don’t know if it is because he literally doesn’t want to take part in the work that it takes to paint a wall that dark (lots of coats =  unhappy husband) or if he doesn’t want to take part in all the work it would take to paint it when I decided I want a white room next year.  We finally met in the middle (or he gave up?) and decided to go with a dark blue wall along the entire length of our living room.

After over thinking it and looking at every blue paint sample in all my paint decks I selected Benjamin Moore Newburyport Blue HC-155 At first I was sad to give up the dramatic black wall of my dreams, but once the paint started going up I knew I (we) had made the right decision. The color is dark and dramatic  but not overwhelming or intimidating. It feels dark and bright at the same time. Plus I love the way it makes our gold artwork and light sofa pop.  There is still lots of work to be done to this room, pull up old carpet + redo the floors, to paint or not to paint all the word work and ceiling beams, window treatments, and eventually a built in bookcase/tv unit extending off the fireplace. But for now I love it and am so happy that I went blue instead of black!

Sincerely,
Allison
