As we touched on in the reveal of the Pineview House, design isn’t always about knocking out walls and making big changes. It is equally about creating a space that works for your family through furniture placement and color selection.  Check out how we transformed this space with little more than paint and some practical furniture selections.

PINE STREET LIVING ROOM REVEAL

The Pine Street house is full of charm and character. We wanted to build off that. We brightened up the space by painting everything in Sherwin Williams Drift of Mist ( a top contender for a new Favorite White ) and added in pops of a modern grays + charcoals. To complement the existing woodwork we added in warm tones like the hammered copper coffee table and the camel leather chairs. The overall feel is a totally modern + liveable space inside an old home.

Pine Street Before

Coming up with a layout that would feel open to the rest of the house was super important to the client. We went with a sofa perpendicular to the fireplace, so that traffic would stay open into the main entryway. Opposite the sofa we went  with 2 leather chairs all, centered around an amazing copper coffee table.  Above the coffee table we added an amazing wrought iron chandelier and reflected it back into the space with a simple round mirror. The end result is a more formal layout comprised of comfortable + modern furniture.

This dark gray sofa was the perfect choice for this family of 4. It can withstand the everyday use of the kids, but it also serves as a nice piece of contrast to the bright walls. The clean lines and dark color help to make the formal details of the space feel more casual.

Overall the entire space was a fairly quick transformation consisting mostly of paint and furniture, but the impact could be just as transformative as what we did in their powder room.
