Our team got together in our annual meeting of the minds to make our predictions for the biggest interior design trends of 2024. Natural materials, well-planned space, individuality…our best guesses might surprise you this year. Check out last year’s post to see how we did when we gazed into the 2023 crystal ball.

1. Natural Materials. The Curio team sees an increasing focus on natural materials like marble and granite and an emphasis on incorporating soft, nature-evoking textures and colors. We expect more focal stones like granite and soapstone to feature bold natural patterns.

2. Efficient design. More square footage is not always the best way to make your space more functional. Efficiency created through design means working with small, existing spaces to make them MORE functional instead of starting from scratch and assuming bigger is better.

3. Timeless design and return to craftsmanship. Our team expects an ever-increasing focus on thoughtful design that preserves the historic elements of a home and works with them instead of trying to change them. With this trend, we predict a return to craftsmanship details in construction, giving homeowners the option for beautiful custom wood trim or traditional details to elevate the design.

4. Do what works for you. Loving this list? That’s great but…forget the trends. Design with an eye on the individual family or user might seem counterintuitive to what other design practices tell us…but our years of experience tell us this works best. Doing something unexpected feels more possible when it’s authentic to your needs and family.

4. Focusing on WOW workspaces. After years of work-from-home, some people are businesses are expressing a desire to come back to sharing communal office spaces. Using bold, functional, and fun design is a way to differentiate your company for both your employees and your clients.
