FOUR THINGS TO CONSIDER FOR YOUR NEXT RENO

1.
It is rare that your project budget will allow you to get every single thing you desire. Think hard about what is most important in your renovation. Increasing work space in a cramped kitchen? Creating a more sociable and open floor plan? List out everything on your wishlist and start to order them from most to least important. This will help you understand where to make cuts when the budget needs to be reigned in.

2.
Renovations are NOT what they show you on HGTV. They will take up a big chunk of time and money. Make sure you are allowing time for planning, contractor schedules, permitting and product lead-times. 4-6 months is a safe estimate for any major reno. And remember it is NEVER too early to contact your designer and start working on the design plan. The more time we have upfront the more likely it is your project will be right on point when it comes to style + budget.

3.
Style influence can be found EVERYWHERE these days. Start compiling a pin board of things that inspire you. Then look for the common thread. Does all your inspiration have clean lines or dark bold colors? Use that as a starting point and then sprinkle in a few other key elements that you find yourself drawn too like natural woods, graphic patterns or layered textures.

4.
Do not try to take on every single aspect of your renovation. Hire out trusted and reputable professionals where needed (interior designers for kitchen planning, electricians, plumbers etc.) This might seem like an overwhelming or expensive aspect but trust me—you get what you pay for! Having the right team on board is a key aspect to ensuring a hassle-free reno!
