We love a good reveal, and this one has been a long time coming. A recent bathroom project was all about transforming a dark, dated space into a timeless retreat that feels bright, open, and beautifully functional. Let’s walk through the journey—from a cramped, underwhelming layout to a stunning, serene space that truly works for everyday living.

THE BEFORE: Dark, Dated, and Deceptively Spacious

At first glance, this bathroom had potential—it was generous in square footage, but the layout and finishes didn’t do it any favors. Despite the size, the room felt cramped and closed-in, thanks to bulky fixtures, a lack of natural flow, and underutilized square footage. The finishes were dark and tired, leaving the space feeling more like a cave than a calming retreat.

The challenges:

  • Outdated materials and finishes

  • Inefficient layout that didn’t make the most of the space

  • No dedicated linen storage

  • A single, basic vanity that didn’t meet the needs of a shared bathroom

THE PLAN : Reimagine the Space with Purpose and Style

We knew from the start this bathroom had the bones to be something really special. Our design plan focused on reconfiguring the space for both function and beauty:

  • Redesign the layout to make room for a large, walk-in shower—open and inviting with clean sightlines.

  • Create a custom double vanity with generous storage, including hidden compartments and drawer organizers.

  • Add linen storage seamlessly into the design, so it feels like part of the architecture rather than an afterthought.

  • Use a classic palette of whites, soft greys, and warm neutrals with subtle pattern play to keep things interesting but timeless.

  • Layer in mixed metal finishes and tailored hardware details to give the room character and a designer edge.

  • Finish with a custom window treatment in a subtle pattern that ties the whole space together.
