The countertop is the workhorse of the kitchen, supporting us through meal prep and catching every spill. Overall, picking the right countertops is essential for achieving a functional, visually appealing, and personalized kitchen design that aligns with your needs and preferences. What’s a client to choose? We’ve got you.

Quartz

This is currently the most popular choice in countertops. There are a few reasons why::

Pro: Quartz has lots of gorgeous color options (and lots of whites!) and a range of pricing. It’s a durable material similar to natural stone in most ways. The colors, patterns, and price can’t be beaten, and chips can be repaired with matching epoxy. This is a great option if you want a marble look but don’t want the maintenance and patina of marble.

Con: Unfortunately, quartz is not as heat resistant as natural stone, meaning you shouldn’t set a hot pot or pan directly on the stone surface.

Granite

Granite has long been a popular choice for kitchen and bath countertops. With the trend moving toward white the material has been losing momentum.

Pro: Granite is a natural material that is super durable and very heat resistant. They often have really large scale or dense patterns which can provide a great focal point to various design styles.

Con: The availability of colors and patterns is harder to control (and options for whites are limited) and chips cannot be patched. If you need large square footage you will need to ensure the stone yard has enough of similar shading and veining to ensure consistency throughout the kitchen–sometimes this makes it hard to get your first choice.

Marble:

Marble is a classic selection for any space. But it is not for everyone.

Pro: Marble is a beautiful natural material with unmatched natural patterns and is heat resistant

Con: Porous and can etch, scratch, and absorb stains. Some people enjoy this natural patina and wear over time—think a vintage French pastry table with years of patina to give it beauty. But for others these inconsistencies would be something that would bother them.
