The rug in any room is an anchor for the look, feel, and style you’re trying to achieve. Finding the right size is key…you want the rug to make the room feel pulled together and connected. And the key to that? The rug has to be the right size.

Our Curio team has created our definitive guide to finding the right rug for your room.

CHOOSING YOUR RUG SIZE : OUR GUIDELINES

The biggest takeaway? When in doubt about which size to choose, opt to size up. This is one of the cases where bigger is, actually, better.

Bedroom Rug Sizing::

Make sure the rug comes out from under the bed enough to be where your feet hit the floor when you stand up. For sizing you either want to have the rug 75% under the bed or fully under the bed. If the rug is just fitting under the bed (and not coming to where your feet hit the ground) you need to size up.

Dining Room Rug Sizing::

The rug needs to be large enough that the chair is still FULLY on the rug when it is pulled out.If this is not possible due to the size of your room then opt for no rug at all and bring color and pattern in through another design element. REMINDER: choose a rug material that is easy to clean.

Living Room Rug Sizing::

A similar rule here as in the dining room. All the seating should either  be 75″ on the rug or fully sitting on a large area rug. If you have a smaller space a small area rug in the middle in proportion to the coffee table works!

Kitchen  Sizing::

The size depends on the dimensions of the room! Standard runner sizes usually work for most kitchen configurations and work especially well with in front of a sink that is centered in the kitchen layout.  A washable option is a SUPER smart choice in this space.
