When we’re helping our clients envision a space, we almost always include plants of some kind…greenery brings LIFE and a sense of completion to any room. But some clients get a little, shall we say, hesitant when we mention bringing living things into their home.

Even if we love the look, some of us see plants as one more thing to care for (*cough* kill) in their home. The truth is, plants don’t have to be hard.

We recently collaborated with the amazing Flowerworks team to break down the easiest plants for bright light living spaces, rooms with low light, and bathroom spaces, and we KNOW you’ll find something here you’re capable of growing. We believe in you!

BUT, if you’re still not convinced your thumb is green enough, we are here to tell you that the easiest plant to keep alive is…a FAKE PLANT.

I know I know, faux plants are a faux pas, right? Not anymore! Like so many things in our lives, technology has evolved and improved fake greenery SO much.

FAUX PLANTS THAT DON’T SUCK

We’ve chosen our favorites for you (and we use some of these in our own homes…no shame!) to freshen up your space…wipe the leaves occasionally (or even annually, let’s be real) and never feel the guilt of dumping a once-beautiful-now-wilted plant in the garbage.

The potted cordyline from Pottery Barn is a cheerful, lustrous adding to your living space and will NEVER need to be repotted.

Everyone says air plants are foolproof, but if that’s true why have a found mine turned to dust after forgetting about them for 6 months? These gorgeous stand-ins from dirt couture on Etsy will never dry up on you.

Fill your favorite vase with eucalyptus from Tigerlily Blooms on Etsy for a lush, ever-green touch.

We love the thick, smooth look of succulents, and this echarvia mix from CB2 won’t have you playing the over-watering/under-watering game that the real thing brings along.

Ah the coveted mature Fiddle Leaf Fig…the real deal is a long term commitment if you want a large plant, but this 6-foot tall beauty from World Market comes ready to bring sophistication to your room and is literally impossible to kill.

Fool everyone with this pretty magnolia branch from Crate and Barrel, down to the moss-covered stem. A few of these can add some lovely warmth to a room in a vase, or a single stem can be added to a floral (faux or real) arrangement.

Another tricky plant to keep alive, this faux jade also from Crate and Barrel takes out all the guesswork of the living version but gives you the same sculptural beauty.
