Rugs…on rugs? Yes. If the concept of layering area rugs is foreign to you (like it was to my husband…) let us explain why we love this technique so much.

[PS: Remember our advice on choosing rug sizes, it comes into play here too!]

Layering your rugs can help to:

FOUR REASONS TO LAYER AREA RUGS

ONE:: DEFINE ZONES: An area rug OVER carpet can help define sitting areas and different uses of your space in what would otherwise feel like a floating furniture layout.

TWO:: HELP WITH BUDGET: A larger, less expensive area rug on the bottom can do the work of covering more ground, while a nicer, more expensive rug layered on top for luxury.

THREE:: CREATE A UNIQUE AESTHETIC: Remember, the Curio way is to create interest, layer textures, and mix patterns. Layered area rugs are a low-commitment way to show your unique vision in your space.

FOUR:: REUSE AN EXISTING RUG: Have an existing rug that doesn’t fit in the space you have? Using it as part of layering can give it new life, freshen up your space, and keep that rug out of the landfill!

Ready to layer us into your design plan? We’d love to help. Let’s connect!

Sincerely,
Allison
