It’s here! The Holiday season has officially started. Although I am one of those people who can’t get into the full Holiday spirit until after Thanksgiving, the time to start decorating for the season has approached us quickly.

I think one of the focal points of a home during this season is the fireplace. Nothing beats curling up next to the fire on a cold day. Here are three approaches to styling your fire place mantel this season using existing décor, family heirlooms, or perhaps something new.  If you don’t have a fireplace mantel like me, you can easily set up a focal point on some floating shelves in your living space.

If you prefer the traditional Christmas color scheme then this design is for you. The old window frame serves as the perfect backdrop to hang a wreath or some unique holiday décor. The candle pillars that vary in height create balance and give some visual interest.

This scheme pulls together some interesting finds to create a modern, rustic feel. I fell in love with the reclaimed wood art I discovered on etsy, especially because you can get it customized to any phrase you like. The printed art is framed in a bold white frame to contrast against the darker wall color. The silver antler wreaths create a statement while adding a rustic touch. Box wood trees were integrated to frame the fireplace and add a pop of color.

This look was achieved through a color palette full of whites, silvers and icy blues. This mantel scape look can be easily mimicked by adding a bed of cotton to your mantle ledge and arranging simple Christmas bulbs in varying shades of blues and silvers.  You can also add unique pieces like the white feather Christmas tree to add interest. Birch wood vases were added to pull the winter land concept together, while the red ornaments and holly branches bring a pop of color to the theme.
