Interior Design comes with its share of challenges. There is always a restriction whether it be budget, space constraints, style, product availability etc. etc. etc. And where some might complain about the complexity of dealing with all these variables this is where I tend to thrive. With every limitation in a project is an opportunity to be creative, to push your boundaries of available solutions and to come up with something unique for your client.
A recent project gave me 3 challenging limitations. 1. Price 2. Available space 3. Geographic location. I was asked to help a homeowner in Germany select a piece of furniture for a small niche in their entry way. The budget was minimal, and the product availability was even less as they did not want to pay for international shipping.
Solution: Create a customized piece of Ikea furniture using O’verlays (amazing by the way–check them out!), inspired by some images sent in by the client. The end result was a perfect small scale storage solution with an even better price tag!
Check out some other great transformations using O’verlays at their website. Here are a couple of my favorites!
