A bit ago I posted a blog about how to arrange furniture in odd shaped rooms. The example I used was this funky L-shaped master bedroom that I worked on for an e-Design client.  I touched all on design tricks I used to combat her awkward layout but I never mentioned any of the awesome colors, products or artwork that was used to create such a calming and relaxing space.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this complementary color scheme of orange and blue. It’s not every day that you find the right space and product to pull off such a specific scheme but this one works wonderfully.

The successful key with this project was to keep a majority of the finishes light like the area rug, headboard and wall colors.  This gives you a neutral back drop on which to play and add pops of bright color and fun pattern.  Next we layered in just the right amount of blue and orange. These sleek side chairs from West Elm helped create a cozy and dramatic reading nook.  Color texture and pattern are all brought together with the decorative accent pillows and the original abstract painitng ties everything together.
