I briefly touched on this project and the indoor vertical succulent garden, but wanted to share full details of the rest of the project. Like many of my other clients, this North Cali Mama’s main struggle was figuring out a way to lay out the furniture in a functional way.
Two sets of French doors leading to the yard decreased the amount of usable wall space to set up furniture, and the large corner fireplace unit made it even more tricky. The solution was to pull the main seating away from the walls and utilize a clean line chaise lounge—set up in a way to match the angle of the fireplace. This allowed the space to be utilized for both socializing & TV watching, while still incorporating the fireplace into the grouping.
The client expressed interest in bright pops of color and bold patterns—music to my ears! A fresh palette of greens and blues was accented by large scale patterns on the rug and accent pillows.
Sherwin Williams 6743 Mint Condition was specified for all the walls, while the existing white trim and door frames remain. A new split-face limestone tile was selected to replace the stacked river rock on the fireplace— resulting in a simpler and sleek look.
BEFORE IMAGE
A separate children’s area is designated in the corner of the space. Customizable, stackable cabinets provide ample toy storage and a writable chalkboard surface on the doors. Two indoor/outdoor rugs provide a durable surface for play and can be split apart and placed in front of the doors in times of high traffic.
