This project was a complete gut job and I was lucky enough to get complete creative control. Trust me—nothing makes a designer happier than being able to knock out walls and put them back where we see fit. And that is exactly what happened here! The end result is 1000 square feet of bright functional living space. The proof is in the pudding my friends—no project is too large or too complex for e-design services!
Check it out!
Before the kitchen was minimal and tight. Now an open concept makes it easy to entertain several people it what was once considered a small space.
By eliminating some existing interior walls we were able to make room for a designated dining area. Bumping out part of the wall with a ribbon soffit detail allows us to install recessed halogen lights, which accent a vintage South American map–something that was important to the owner.
By using contrasting cabinetry–white on the island and dark on the outer cabinets we create variety and break up the space. The island now acts as a piece of furniture rather than part of the built in kitchen.
A neutral and monochromatic colorscheme was carried throughout the main living space. In order to differentiate the private zone from the social zone a complementary but contrasting color was used for the Master suite.
Tray ceiling with recessed lights accent a custom 6 foot tall upholstered headboard.
The colorshceme from the bedroom is continued into the adjacent master bath. Large scale wall tiles in 4 foot lengths create a focal point in the bathroom.
