PROJECT DETAILS: MODERN FAMILY ROOM

Aother beautiful e-Design is in the books and is currently in the process of coming to life.  This project was for a super fun, modern family who was building a brand new house but needed help determining the proper furniture layout for the space, selecting the right color scheme and finishing out the space with great accessories.

Starting out with a great layout is key to creating a functional space. This wasn’t the trickiest room I’ve worked with but it did have it’s challenges. The client wanted to maximize seating for her large family but we also had to keep a clear pathway to the french doors so they could easily access their beautiful backyard.  Floating a large sectional sofa off the wall and focusing it around the fireplace was the perfect solution. Giving us plenty of seating and great traffic flow!

Once the layout was nailed down I started pulling furniture and color swatches that were going to create a neutral and modern vibe. Sherwin Williams Repose Gray was selected for all the walls to give a fresh base to work from.

Pops of black, white and dark sea foam round out this color scheme. To create interest we add pattern in the rug, animal print throw pillows and large scale stripes on the window treatments. Texture is brought in through the pillows and a large sisal area rug layered under the patterned one.

I always love to include an accessory plan on my projects not only to help the client understand the selections but to guide them in the installation.  The art in this space is simple modern and ties together the color scheme. Directions on how and where to mount the art makes accessorizing the space fool proof!
