How amazingly-awesome is it that no matter where I am in the world I can take on projects thousands of miles away with the same efficiency and end result as a project that is right in my own neighborhood? A recent project took me to the beautiful Swiss Alps and introduced me to a family who, like many, struggle to find an ideal layout in an awkwardly shaped space.
The plan needed several seating zones, including adult seating/entertaining, children’s play area and storage for an extensive book collection. Swivel based chairs were one element that helped all these elements work together. That way the central seating zone can allow adults to socialize while watching over kids in the play area.
The material/color scheme “traditional with a twist” consists of classic patterns like floral and stripes jazzed up with pops of bright color, furry texture and modern metallics. The bright yellow rug helps to define the child play area, while a more mature chevron rug anchors the adult zone.
