A true design challenge is being tasked to completely transform a space without undergoing a major renovation. There are plenty of instances where this makes sense. You don’t want to sink more cash into your house , you have a good layout you can work with or you are just ready for a small refresh.  We love the challenge of working INSIDE the box sometimes to come up with a completely reimagined space for the client.

The Before.

Overall the space just felt dark and dated. The house was super heavy on wood tones and overall just needed a breath of fresh air. We knew we couldn’t change the layout so we worked hard to pull together a bright + fresh color and material scheme that still felt it worked within the context of the rest of the house.

We utilized the existing base cabinets and had them refinished and refaced. We added a bank of cabinets in the breakfast room to create more functional storage and additional appliance space. We brought in a light blue subway tile in the breakfast room and capped it off with a wood pill shelf to help tie it into some of the other pieces of wood trim throughout the house.

Overall the space was transformed and totally lightened without a single wall being moved or a base cabinet coming out. Take a look at how the Harbor View Kitchen came together. And if you are interested in 4 things you can update in your kitchen without a major reno–watch this!
