THE BEFORE:: A LAYOUT IN NEED OF CHANGE
We are beyond excited to share the stunning transformation of this unique space! What was once a cramped, inefficient layout with a kitchen tucked away in a small back corner has now been completely reimagined.
The original layout was working against the flow of the home. The kitchen, tucked away in a small back corner, offered little potential for expansion to meet the needs of modern living. Adjacent to the kitchen was a larger, underutilized space that had so much more potential. It was clear: a major reconfiguration was in order to make this home work for the family and their vision.
THE PLAN: MOODY, BOLD & CURIOUSLY UNQIUE
We envisioned moving the kitchen into the den space, swapping the existing dining room into the former kitchen area, and removing the wall that separated these rooms. This would not only open up the space but also create a seamless flow from the kitchen into the living and dining areas, ideal for both everyday living and entertaining.
The clients were clear—they wanted something moody, bold, and sophisticated. But they also wanted to maintain a connection to the house’s original charm. To honor the character of the space, we planned to reuse the existing wood trim profiles and continued the hardwood flooring throughout, helping to blend the new with the old.
We brought in mid-century modern details, playing with clean lines and rich textures, while introducing a show-stopping floral wallpaper as the ultimate focal point.
PROJECT REVEAL: HIDDEN IVY KITCHEN
The kitchen now serves as the heart of the home, with ample room to gather, cook, and entertain in a space that feels both modern and connected to the history of the house. Thanks to our collaboration with Frantz Contracting for bringing this one to life!
