What do you do when you’re ready for a refresh on your paint (yay!) but have those oh-so-common oak cabinets of yesteryear or the very prominent and formerly popular brown granite and tile? You let us help with the paint palette, of course!

THE BEST PAINT COLORS TO GO WITH OAK

A simple update like paint and wall colors can feel daunting when there are a handful of finishes in your home that feel a bit dated. The warm woods and brown tones of the no-so-distant past can feel out of place when today’s trends are leaning more toward cool neutrals and grays.

The key to updating the look of your home without tearing it all out (yikes!) and starting and expensive renovation (gulp!) is the right paint color scheme mixed with accents (think upholstery and textiles) to bridge the gap between an updated look and your existing warm finishes.

If you prefer to keep the majority of your furnishings as warm in tone (think natural linen, beige, cream), we’d recommend the first scheme.

Option 1: Sherwin Williams 9166 Drift of Mist, Benjamin Moore 2127-60 Feather Gray, Sherwin Williams 6002 Essential Gray, Benjamin Moore CSP 110 Vintage Pewter

If your priority is to move the entire look of you space to a more modern, contemporary vibe, we’d choose the second scheme of slightly cooler tones.
