The year cannot end well without our Curio Team putting our heads together to make predictions for 2023. We spend the year working with clients and creating designs that give us insight into what people are leaving behind and what they are LOVING for the new year. Last year’s trends are right here and we are building off those cozy, classy vibes as we move into another design season.
This year? More warmth, depth, and bold statements…in your spaces and your life!
DESIGN TREND PREDICTIONS FOR 2023
Warm Colors:
We predicted this in 2022 and we are leaning into it for 2023. These colors (hello, Terracotta!) bring the cozy to any size space and pair well with cool tones like white, blue and green.
Saturated Tones
Things have been trending darker for the last few years (we called this trend in our 2021 and 2022 predictions) and we love dark moody tones. The trend started out with accent walls only but people are acclimated to darker tones and we are seeing them safely used all over walls.
Wallpaper:
Though we’ve always loved it (if there was a word stronger than love, we’d use it), the wallpaper trend is in full swing right now. from alcoves to ceilings to FULL rooms we love the added layer of color, pattern, and texture this brings to any space.
Statement Tiles
Whether on the backsplash or the floor, tiles are a great way to lean into a design style or color or add extra *pizzaz* to any space. We used to support the idea of keeping tiles more classic (because they are harder to change and generally more expensive purchases) but we love the personality that is able to be expressed by taking bigger risks with statement tiles.
Focal range hoods/range appliances:
In kitchen planning, the range is the easiest appliance to have stand-alone while keeping the fridge and sink closest together. Design trends are leaning into this space planning concept and creating the focal point around the range with decorative range hoods or antique/color-saturated appliances.
Light Warm Wood:
Wood is still as popular as ever, but we are seeing it continue to lighten up. sunbleached, white oak on floors, and lots of furniture elements. The bonus for light wood floors is that they conceal dirt and pet hair much better than dark wood trends of the past.
