PROJECT REVEAL: BALTIC BIANCO KITCHEN

Project reveal time! This project was SO fun to work. It really challenged us to be creative and come up with tons of functional, practical and budget-conscious solutions.

THE BEFORE.

The before was the original 1950’s kitchen–metal cabinets and all. The footprint was small with limited wall space, and expanding into other parts of the home was not an option. Additionally our clients had recently become empty nesters and did not feel like they needed more space for just the two of them. They did however want upgrade finishes, more storage, more counterspace and materials that were easy to maintain!

THE PLAN.

We started with the layout. There wasn’t a lot of room for change but we were able to shift some things around enough to give them a nice L shape kitchen This increased counter space and storage and allowed for an additional prep space.

We came up with a few creative solutions to maximize non-traditional storage and we were so excited the client went with them. First was to use a narrow wall mounted shelf to the left of the range to act as open spice storage. Second was to install a brass pot rail on the range wall which was a great way to store utensils without taking up drawer space. Lastly. we installed some extended window sills with brackets underneath. This created a small coffee area with room to hang mugs for a quick cup of coffee!
