Another beautiful Marquette kitchen in the books! This kitchen is full of contrast. From the accent color island, to the mix of subway + cement tile , the visual interest keeps your eye trailing around the room stopping to find the detail in each element along the way.  If you haven’t yet, check out the Design Plan post about this kitchen— and also to see how stunningly close the final outcome was to our presented renderings. Dream project? HELL YES.

PROJECT REVEAL: GROVE KITCHEN

Adding an island was a huge WANT in this project. We opted for a custom color cabinetry with butcher block counter.

The contrasting materials of the island make it feel like a stand-alone piece of furniture in comparison to the rest of the kitchen.

We significantly opened up the space by changing the flow of entry from garage, relocating the mudroom, creating a pantry and widening the opening from living to dining. The end result was not only more functional space, but this amazing siteline from the living room!

In our pre-design meeting the owner mentioned his collection of cast iron skillets that he loved and wanted to have storage for in the design (they were currently stored in the pantry out of sight). Instead of adding pull out storage we came up with the idea to create a custom wall mount pot rack to display them as part of the design.

We LOVE the end result. Anytime we can beautifully blend function + aesthetic we are beyond thrilled.

That hood fan though right?! Custom built to conceal a functional hood fan, trimmed out with curly maple. We are GAH-GAH over the architectural interest it adds to an otherwise utilitarian unit. We finished off the design with a cement tile. Sometimes adding a pattern tile might feel like a design risk but in this case the subtle colors and tone on tone pattern
