As we approach spring (hopefully!), many of our clients reach out looking for help with a ‘spring cleaning’ of their home design. Shaking off the dust of winter and ready to approach the warmer months with a feeling of renewal, we often recommend a whole house color palette refresh.
Fresh paint and updated lighting are some of the easiest ways to update the look (and feel!) of your space. With a relatively modest investment (and a DIY attitude) you can create a dramatic change with little stress (who needs it) or financial strain compared to other upgrades.
WHOLE HOUSE REFRESH: PAINT COLORS
We’re loving the colors and fixtures for this recent project that could easily translate into your home. Just like this post where we shared the good news that you CAN make your 2000’s oak cabinetry work with the trending colors of 2019, the updates we used in this project can pair with the warm wood tones that you may already have in your home that make things feel (just a tad) dated in the not-cool-not-quite-vintage way.
We used On the Rocks, a cool-ish, gray-ish (technical design terms, obviously) by Sherwin Williams, as a bright, neutral continuous thread throughout the house. Having a consistent color connecting the spaces of your house can help make things feel contiguous and more spacious.
For the guest bath, we went with Benjamin Moore Duxubury Gray, a refined and classic color with more saturation.
Chelsea Gray by Benjamin Moore was a warmer but still neutral choice for the cozy vibe of the Master Bedroom.
If you’re looking for a place to use a darker hue for a dramatic accent (who isn’t!?), we loved the effect of using Benjamin Moore’s Kendall Charcoal on the kitchen island.
Speaking of dramatic accents (does Canadian count?), fell in love with the pop of life this pure, deep color brought to the office. This one is Noctural Gray by Benjamin Moore.
The cool blue of Tempe Star by Sherwin Williams brought some depth and diversity to the color scheme and was a gorgeous addition to the master bath.
Inspired by the paint but need a little more OOMPH to your refresh? Next week on the blog we will share the lighting updates we paired with these colors in this project. Ready to dive right in? We work locally with clients in Marquette, MI and consult virtually with clients nationwide to help make your updates refreshing and painless.
Happy Designing!
Sincerely,
Allison
