The kitchen is often the hub of our home…but it’s also a really utilitarian space that has to have practical tools for keeping the flow of life going and the stomachs of our families full. So when we are designing kitchen spaces clients often ask me…how do I make this really pragmatic and functional space feel pretty and put together?
My answer: I’m so glad you asked!
The entire point of interior design to find ways you can have beauty AND practicality at once. Cabinet color choices (yay! colors!) and hardware details (shiny meets matte!) are examples of the basic design elements that bring your personality to an efficient kitchen, but we love to add details that make it even more YOU.
(Psssst…when it comes to choosing trends vs. classics, these items are a good place to choose something cool right now that you may not want to keep forever)
Here’s a list of some of our favorite beautiful everyday items for your kitchen…
BEAUTIFUL EVERYDAY ITEMS FOR YOUR KITCHEN
Crate and Barrel’s Chantal Green Mini Butter Dish is a like a little emerald on your kitchen counter…full of butter! What could be better than that?
We love the warmth of this Walnut Butcher Block Cutting Board from Hardwood Lumber Company, the gorgeous finish makes it impossible to hid in a drawer.
World Market’s Black Villa Stripe Kitchen towel is an understated everyday item that will pull things together in your kitchen…and the price can’t be beat.
CB2 has combined the elegance of origami with the utility of..well…of salt and pepper shakers! The Facet Shiny White Salt and Pepper Shaker set is the result.
Everthine Designs on Etsy makes these gorgeous calligraphed soap dispensers that are eco-friendly (hooray!) and cute enough to leave out.
The Thirstystone Marble and Wood Spoon Rest from Macy’s is a sleek, classic piece to add to your countertop…and you will actually use it.
Design Within Reach gives us the Ichendorf Piuma Small Teapot, a piece of European made art that can also deliver your caffeine.
Serve drinks to your guests (or eat your breakfast in bed…jk who am I kidding) in style with the Modern Marble Tray from Macy’s.
These Woven Cucina towels from Rachael Ray are super absorbent, reasonably priced and (most importantly of all!) have tassels. We love them in our kitchen.
Details aren’t your thing? We can help! We work locally with clients in Marquette, MI and consult virtually with clients nation-wide!
Happy Designing!
Sincerely,
Allison
