HOW TO STYLE YOUR SOFA

A great way to make your living room feel complete is by styling your sofa.  Not only can it set the tone for the feel of the room but styling your sofa is a way to add color, texture and create something unique in your space.  A lot of our clients get a great sofa and then forget to finish it off.  Think of the accessories as the lipstick on your sofa!  This can be a fun and inexpensive exercise in finding a style you love!  So a few professional tips:

Mix sizes of pillows, mix textures

and mix where you buy them from for a truly custom look!

No matter what style you are going for, add different pillow shapes, think rectangle and a trend we are currently seeing, round!  Or try for a monochromatic look but vary the textures.  A throw blanket plays a major role in styling the sofa, especially when it adds texture, pattern or color. So don’t be afraid to step outside of the box and select something with personality.

Modern + Boho

The key to create this look is keep the lines clean and modern and the textures rich and heavy to add that boho feel.  Start with a clean lined sofa in a camel color leather. Layer on pillows with bold graphic patterns ( black and white is great! ) mixed with other variety of texture. Play up the bohemiam vibe by adding another layer of pattern in your throw. Farmhouse Chic

This is a popular style currently and for some great reasons.  It has a elegant, classy feel, yet still makes you and your guests feel comfortable. It’s warm, cozy and feels like home. Start with a neutral linen sofa with style lines that are a cleaned- up version of something more traditional. The key for styling your sofa in this look is layering on variety of texture and pattern in neutral colors. Try a large scale buffalo check pillow mixed in with other textured pillows. Keep the sofa feeling elegant + comfy by topping it off with a faux fur throw.

Scandinavian

This style is gaining popularity and really can be contributed to the minimalists movement.  This simple look is easy to achieve! A big part of this minimalist style is colorblocking. Style your sofa with solid throw pillows of varying sizes. We like to mix 18x 18 pillows on the outsides and then scale pillows down towards the middle of the couch, ending with a  12 x 20 lumbar size pillow in the center.
