When we’re designing kitchens, sometimes we focus on all the big pieces. This room is the hub of our homes, so when it’s feeling a little drab it’s tempting to thinking about starting over (get out the sledgehammer!) with a big kitchen renovation (which we recently covered right here!).

But there are lots of little touches that can make your space feel updated, newer, and dare we say…more YOU. We often recommend adding things like colored cabinets and gorgeous hardware. And if you’re looking for that finishing touch to make your same-old-kitchen feel brand new, what’s easier than adding a rug?

Runners are practical, add warmth and help designate zones in your kitchen. We pulled a few of our favorites so you can start dreaming about your own!

TREND ALERT: RUNNERS IN THE KITCHEN

We couldn’t pass up this antique Hamedan Persian Rug hand knotted in Iran

The Parker Rug at World Market is a subtle, natural print…and since it’s indoor/outdoor, it’s easy to maintain in a busy (sometimes messy!) space.

We are loving this old world chic with this bright, bold magenta, the Bosphorus Tecumseh Tribal Tale Triptych from Rugs USA.

The Moroccan Tile Rug from Anthropologie is a gorgeous interpretation of traditional Moroccan artwork that brings a bit of luxury into your space.

This beautiful neutral in New Zealand wool is a luxe addition to your kitchen. Garrard Rug by Safavieh at Target.

This vintage Turkish rug on Etsy has gorgeous geometric shapes and a beautiful neutral palette.

Get the look of a classic American flatweave…with a contemporary twist. The Huddersfield Rug from Safavieh at Target.

We’re drooling over this authentic Persian crafted rug…these colors and textures bring warmth to your kitchen space.
